Introduction to Assessing Knowledge and Interest
Introduction to Assessing Knowledge and Interest
Starting from where people are, this section asks you to consider and to share your experience and familiarity with the field. Based on ideas drawn from constructivist approaches to learning (see Martin Ryder's pages at the University of Colorado, Faculty of Education by going to http://carbon.cudenver.edu/%7Emryder/itc_data/constructivism.html and, from there, we recommend Elizabeth Murphy's paper on Characteristics of Constructivist Learning and Teaching at http://www.cdli.ca/~elmurphy/emurphy/cle3.html if you are interested), this section seeks to focus your own thinking on your starting points in this course, and to help others, including the Course Tutor, to understand those starting points.
There are, most certainly, no 'correct' answers in this section but it is very helpful if we know where people will be starting from as we embark upon this course. You will all very likely have a different experience and approach to this material - this will make the course more interesting for us all.
